Esther Smith transfer of property, 1738.

Esther Smith, widow of Reverend Joseph Smith of Middletown, Connecticut, transferred all her rights, title or interest in her late husband's estate to her son Joseph, with the understanding that the transfer did not physically occur until her own death. Among the property being transferred was a Negro man Cloys, who "belonged" to her husband. Cloys was listed along with mourning clothes, money, cattle and sheep.
